Games without internet: play Lumis offline
Lumis is a puzzle game that needs no internet once it has loaded. On a plane or somewhere without signal you simply keep playing, for free and without ads.
How Lumis works offline
Open die-lumis.de/spielen once while you are online. Your browser then stores the whole game on your device, with all 100 levels, pictures and sounds. From then on Lumis starts without a connection.
The music follows bit by bit. Your browser keeps each track once it has played. Your progress is saved on the device too and stays there offline.
What kind of game is Lumis?
You guide little light creatures through caves, old ruins and up to islands in the clouds. They set off on their own and would walk straight into the first chasm without you. So you hand out skills to single lumis: one digs through the ground, another builds a bridge of light, a third stands still and holds the group back. Most levels take only a few minutes, which makes them a good fit for a train ride.
Setting it up on an iPhone
- Open die-lumis.de/spielen in Safari.
- Tap the share icon at the bottom, the square with the arrow pointing up.
- Choose Add to Home Screen and confirm with Add.
Lumis now sits on your home screen as an icon and starts without the browser bar. That helps your progress as well. Safari may delete the data a website has stored once you have not opened it for seven days. Web apps on the home screen are exempt from that rule.
If you hear nothing, the silent switch on the side of your iPhone is probably on. Lumis then stays quiet, like most games do.
Setting it up on Android
- Open die-lumis.de/spielen in Chrome.
- Tap the three dots in the top right corner.
- Choose Install app or Add to Home screen, whichever your phone offers.
Lumis is also coming to Google Play soon as an app. The app runs without internet as well.
On a computer
Chrome and Edge show a small install icon in the address bar. After that Lumis opens in a window of its own. Playing offline works just as well in a normal browser tab.
What needs a connection
Hardly anything. The leaderboard is the exception, because your points travel to the Lumis server for it. Your browser fetches new versions of the game the next time you are online.
A test before you travel
Start Lumis once with internet before your holiday and play a level. Then switch on flight mode and open the game again. If it starts, you are ready.
Free and without ads
All 100 levels are free. The browser game has no ads and nothing to buy, and you do not need an account. If you want to join the leaderboard, a name of your choice is enough.
